Marketing has developed. With the rise of advanced technologies such as AI, machine learning and big data, marketing strategies have the power to be more accurate and efficient than human beings ever could be. Don't worry though, robotic technology won't erase the marketing profession as we will still be needed to write creative campaigns, execute them and drive results. Where we won't be needed, however, is in the places that take up the most time, conducting extensive research.
The idea of robotic marketing is a bit terrifying not only to marketers but also to marketing media. What does this mean for their jobs? How will they remain relevant? With smaller pages does that mean there will be less jobs? What will they do? Unless marketing media disrupts itself, they too may find themselves with redundancy packages.
I'm not afraid of change, and I have never been. In fact, I am excited by it. I have seen this industry evolve time and time again. First, it was the internet, then it was social media, and now it robotic technology. Instead of allowing the idea of change to scare you, allow it to take over you and excite you. Sure, you may have to learn some new skills but doing so will keep you growing as a marketing professional, keep your current and potential clients engaged and most importantly keep your company relevant.
Every business needs to set KPI's around their marketing activities. Many marketers reject the idea of an audit for fear that it will prove they missed something along the way. I say that is ridiculous. When someone finds a gap in your process, embrace it, learn from it and take on new skills to improve what you are doing for the organizations you work for.
What is there to worry about when all you can see is the opportunity to grow and be better?. Knowledge is power, and by embracing the latest technologies and understanding them before your competitors, you will take yourself to great heights.
If you are worried about your job as the rise of robotic technology evolves into marketing, start doing some research. Be ahead of everyone else and teach yourself new ways of thinking. Take pleasure in reading about new marketing trends and study campaigns that are working for other companies in the market. Watch the leaders and begin to pave your own way.
